“Taliban”: For a Political Settlement to Resolve the Conflict

The leader of the “Taliban”, Hebatullah Akhundzada, announced that the Movement wants to establish good diplomatic, economic, and political relations with all countries of the world, including the US.

In a message on the occasion of Adha Eid, Akhundzada affirmed that the Movement supports a political settlement to resolve the conflict, despite their military progress and victories achieved so far, and that it is determined to reach a solution through negotiations.

He also stressed that in the event of establishing an Islamic emirate in the country, Afghanistan will not allow any side to threaten the security of any other country from its territory.

Representatives of the Afghan government and the “Taliban” Movement met in Qatar yesterday, Saturday, for talks, as fierce battles on the ground keep raging, coinciding with the withdrawal of foreign and US forces from Afghanistan after 20 years of presence in the country.

The “Taliban” now has control over large areas of the borders across the country, amid UN warnings of the escalation of violence and its impact on the significant increase in the number of Afghan immigrants.

A few days ago, US Central Command issued a statement announcing that the process of withdrawing US forces and equipment from Afghanistan is almost 95% completed.
