Russia’s Security Council: AUKUS Is a US Adventure Undermining Stability in Asia .

The Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, described the establishment of the AUKUS military alliance as a US adventure that undermines stability in Asia.

During the opening ceremony of the 17th conference of the security and intelligence heads of the Commonwealth of Independent StatesPatrushev said that in order to execute the White House’s next adventure (meaning AUKUS), the entire security structure in Asia is being attacked. Moreso, preconditions are being established to undermine the authority of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other regional associations, not to mention the challenges in controlling the spread of nuclear weapons.

Patrushev stated that in this way, the West is desperately attempting to preserve its political, military, and economic hegemony. He is of the opinion that Western countries and NATO are attempting to divert attention from their domestic issues and redirect public anger toward an imagined foreign enemy that is Russia or China, thus stressing that they have gone too far.

Patrushev had said in an earlier statement on September 21 that the AUKUS alliance has become a military coalition directed against Russia and China.

Washington announced on September 16 the establishment of the AUKUS security-strategic alliance in the Indo-Pacific region, which groups the US, UK, and Australia. As part of the alliance, the United States and the United Kingdom will help Australia enhance its nuclear capabilities through sharing advanced technologies, which will aid Australia in acquiring nuclear-powered submarines.
