Jordan (IP) – The King of Jordan stressed the formation of an independent Palestine with Al-Quds as its capital.
On Monday, Abdullah II stressed the continuation of coordination and efforts to prevent a recurrence of the Israeli attacks on Al-Quds and its sanctities and residents.
Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque witnessed on Friday, April 15, 2022, the most intense clashes between the Israeli troops and the Palestinian people during the past year. At least 350 Palestinians were wounded and 400 others were arrested in the conflicts.
Noting that the clashes could destroy the opportunities for the maintenance of peace, King Abdullah II said that efforts must be made to establish an inclusive peace that would realize the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation.
Jordan would also do its utmost to support the Islamic and Christian sanctities of Al-Quds city, he stressed.
Thousands of people took into the streets of Amman last week after Friday prayers, chanting slogans against the Israeli regime. They were calling for the expelling of the Israeli ambassador from Jordan and the cancellation of the Wadi Araba Treaty or Israel–Jordan peace treaty.
Wadi Araba Treaty is an agreement that ended the state of war that has existed between the Israeli regime and Jordan since the 1948 Arab–Israeli War and established mutual diplomatic relations.
