Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that the export of agricultural products from Russia has grown by several times recently.
Putin’s statement came during his conversation with workers from the “Tulazeldurmash” factory, which specializes in the manufacture of various types of train cars, as the Russian president is making a field visit to the factory located in the city of Tula, about 185 kilometers south of the Russian capital, Moscow.
The Russian president said: “Exports (agricultural products) have grown several times, but imports, on the contrary, have declined.” He added that Russia now exports agricultural products and is struggling for sales markets.
In a related development, the head of the Russian Agricultural Supervisory Authority, “Ross Selkhoz Nadzor,” Sergey Dankvert, revealed in a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that Russia, which is the largest exporter of grain, has now become a major supplier of meat to the global market.
According to the Russian official, its meat exports amounted to 650,000 tons in 2022, thus exceeding imports. He said, “It can already be said that Russia is the largest producer of food. Today we are major exporters of grain, and major exporters of meat because for the first time we have exported 650,000 tons of meat.”
