Germany’s Wintershall Dea, one of Europe’s largest oil and gas companies, said it had no plans to repair and restart Nord Stream gas transmission lines.
The company’s president, Mario Mirren, stressed during a press conference that his company is focusing its efforts on ensuring environmental safety in the area that these pipelines were subjected to.
“We would like to be clear, Wintershall Dea has no plans to rehabilitate the North Stream. What we want to do is save the pipeline and preserve the environment there,” Mirren said.
It is noteworthy that, Wintershall Dea is a shareholder in the company supervising the operation of the “Northern Stream” line (with a 15.5% stake).
Wintershall Dea had said in its report that it had completely written off its 15.5% stake in the North Stream operator, after the pipeline was damaged.
