The Israeli occupation forces fired missiles on the Syrian capital of Damascus in an unprovoked act of aggression and in violation of Syria’s sovereignty.
The Israeli occupation carried out aggressive attacks on the outskirts of the Syrian capital of Damascus, Syrian state news agency SANA reported early on Wednesday.
The Syrian air defense systems quickly took to working on intercepting the aggression, the agency reported.
Explosions were heard in the sky over the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Syrian media reported.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced later in the day that soldiers in the Syrian Arab Army sustained injuries due to the Israeli missile attack on the capital.
“The Israeli enemy carried out air aggression with a salvo of missiles from the northern part of the occupied Golan Heights, striking at some objects in the vicinity of Damascus,” the ministry said on social media.
“Our air defense systems responded to the aggressor’s missiles and shot down most of them. As a result of the aggression, two soldiers were injured,” the ministry said on social media,” the government body added.
Moreover, Damascus said the attack caused material damage in the afflicted area.
This is the second attack of this sort this month, and such acts of aggression are commonplace in Syria, with the Israeli occupation continuously violating the country’s airspace.
The Syrian air defense media repelled on July 2 an Israeli missile attack targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Homs.
A military source told SANA at the time that Syrian air defense systems repelled an attack in the Homs Governorate in central Syria on Saturday night.
The Israeli occupation army reported on the explosion of an anti-aircraft missile fired from Syria and exploded in the sky of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The occupation said that shrapnel from the missile, which was fired from Syria, fell in the city of Rahat in Al-Naqab, south of occupied Palestine.
