Israeli ground operation to draw countries into war, Abdel Hafiz Nofal said
The Palestinians will not leave the Gaza Strip for the so-called camps in Egypt, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal told TASS.
“Palestinians are not going to leave Gaza. They will not go to the border. They will never go to Egypt’s camps. They will be staying on their land,” he said.
Israel’s ground operation in Gaza may bring other countries into the war, Palestinian Ambassador told.
“I said long ago that once the Israelis launch a ground operation, this will be very difficult, very dangerous for civilians. It may end up in drawing other countries into the war. We hope there will be no ground operation, as civilians will be suffering a lot,” the Palestinian ambassador said.
The ambassador was hopeful that after Friday’s vote at the UN when the Security Council resolution was adopted, “everything will be fine.” “We still do not know when Israel will launch a ground operation, as they are attacking and, on their part, complicating the situation on a daily basis. We do not want any ground operation as it will be very dangerous,” he added.
On October 27, Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Daniel Hagari said that Israel was “expanding” its ground military operation in the Gaza Strip. He said that the Israeli Air Force is attacking “terror tunnels, underground combat spaces and additional underground infrastructure” to prepare for a ground operation.
In the meantime, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Israel embarked on a ground military operation in the Gaza Strip on October 28. The ministry emphasized that thereby the confrontation spirals into a new stage of escalation.
