Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has held talks with CIA Director William Burns in Cairo.
During the meeting, discussions focused on international and regional issues, especially the Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip, a presidential spokesman has said.
El-Sisi stressed the necessity of an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and facilitate the access of humanitarian aid and prevent, the spokesman added.
Burns is on a Middle East tour meeting intelligence partners and leaders of several countries on matters including ones related to the war, according to a US official quoted by news agencies. On Monday, the CIA head was reported being in Israel.
