The Financial Times did not name the official due to concerns for her safety, saying only that she was the CIA’s associate deputy director for analysis.
The official on October 21 changed her Facebook cover photo to an image of a man holding a Palestinian flag, the news outlet reported, adding that “posting an overtly political image on a public platform is a very unusual move for a senior intelligence official”.
In a statement to the Financial Times, the CIA said its officers “are committed to analytic objectivity, which is at the core of what we do as an agency. CIA officers may have personal views, but this does not lessen their — or CIA’s — commitment to unbiased analysis”.
