The Kuwaiti Cabinet has ordered all government departments to cut spending by at least 10% from the current fiscal year’s budget of 2021-2022.
The cabinet stated on Twitter that the decision was taken after considering suggestions from the economic affairs committee citing a lack of liquidity in the general reserve and “the necessity to identify radical solutions to address the state’s general budget deficit.”
It will also request that the Public Authority for Manpower investigate the potential of suspending the payment of national labor support to private-sector workers whose total salary exceeds 3,000 dinars ($9,993).
Additionally, the cabinet assigned the Public Authority for Industry to review the list of prices for commercial and industrial plots.
In addition, the Civil Service Bureau was authorized to take the necessary measures to reconsider the benefits granted to leaders and their equivalents in all government agencies.
